The British Esports Federation has announced Tom Dore has been appointed as the new Managing Director of National Student Esports (NSE).
In his new role, Dore will spearhead the development and growth of university esports within the UK.

Dore takes on the Managing Director position at NSE as part of a secondment from British Esports, succeeding former Managing Director Alex Coulson.
In addition to this, he will hold a voluntary position at British Esports to ensure strong communication between the two parties and continued alignment across student esports initiatives. Dore will also retain his role as Vice Chair of the Global Esports Federation.
The appointment follows Esports Global’s acquisition of NSE in November 2025, a move that created one of the largest student esports operators in Europe.
“I would like to thank Alex for his leadership and contribution to NSE,” said Dore in a press release. “Moving forward, I am excited to work with the team to build on their existing success and lead NSE on the next stage of its development, working with a range of brands and industry stakeholders to create even more opportunities for students to meet, play and compete.”
Founded in 2017, NSE is one of the longest-standing student esports competitions in the UK. During its 2024/25 season, 117 universities competed across a variety of titles, including Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and Rocket League.
British Esports in 2026
Throughout 2025, British Esports continued to secure a range of partnerships with the goal to grow the UK esports industry. In December 2025, the national body secured funding to launch a campaign alongside the English Football League, which utilises esports as a way to help young people develop digital skills and stay safe online.
Elsewhere, British Esports joined forces with the UK’s Ministry of Defence to assist with the delivery of the International Defence Esports Games, an esports tournament open to members of the UK’s armed forces.
