PUBG Mobile announced two new systems for competitive playlists. These changes come with the v4.2 update. The new features are called Season Series and Promotion Match. Both systems aim for long-term progression and ranked play.
The announcement took place on January 2. The systems will go live on January 11. They launch as part of the Season Ascension initiative. The Season Series lasts for six months and includes three regular seasons. The system kicks off with Season 28.
Players can earn an evolving in-game medal. Progress depends on their performance in Classic Mode, Ultimate Royale, and Trial Challenges. The medal changes as players improve their results across these modes. The Season Series also brings exclusive cosmetic items. Rewards include a parachute, outfit sets, covers, and hoverboards.
The Promotion Match targets players ranked Ace and above. This system adds a new competitive challenge. Players can earn high-tier icons and Glory Badges. Bonus rewards include an MVP emote and themed cosmetic items.
PUBG Mobile continues to adjust both competitive and casual modes. The v4.1 update introduced esports-themed arenas. These changes marked the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025.
KRAFTON also shared plans for PUBG Mobile esports in 2026. The calendar includes two Global Opens, the PUBG Mobile World Cup, and the PUBG Mobile Global Championship. The year will feature an improved in-game tournament system that will make it easier for players to enter online competitions.
