Nintendo has entered into a share transfer agreement with Bandai Namco Studios in an effort to strengthen the former’s ‘development structure’.

According to Nintendo’s release, the gaming giant plans to acquire 80% of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore shares on April 1st, 2026, with the remaining shares to be acquired after a ‘certain period.’

Nintendo noted how BNSS was established as one of Bandai Namco’s overseas bases outside Japan, and highlighted how it was a studio with ‘strong expertise in creating in-game art assets’.

It’s important to note that Nintendo currently has shares in Bandai Namco Holdings, the previous parent company of BNSS, and was one of its top 10 shareholders back in September 2025 (1.78%).

Near the end of the release, Nintendo stated that it anticipates the acquisition will have a ‘minor effect’ on its results for the fiscal year.

Games Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Singapore

BNSS has contributed to the development of past Nintendo games, and over the years has established a portfolio of titles across various genres. Some of these have gone as far as fostering competitive communities and esports scenes.

The studio has previously worked on Splatoon 3, an online multiplayer third-person shooter that held an open-bracket tournament series earlier this year. The North American league has been running since September 20th, and is scheduled to enter the Playoffs on December 30th, where the top eight teams will play to crown the series champion.

Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has contributed towords other competitive titles, including popular FGC games Tekken 7 and 8, contributing to the latter’s network library. The franchise has stood out as one of the most recognisable competitive titles in the fighting scene, fostering several tournament series, including the Tekken World Tour and the European Tekken Cup.

The fighting game has been featured across several events this year, including FGC tournament festival EVO France 2025, and was included in the 2025 Esports World Cup.
