Call of Duty: Mobile is getting a new extraction mode

COD Mobile new extraction mode DMZ Recon

Call of Duty: Mobile is getting a new extraction mode called DMZ Recon, which will be played on a new map.

The mode, first teased during the COD Next 2025, will be PvPvE. The gameplay for DMZ Recon is simple: players start on the map, called Serpent Island, where they will be up against other players and NPCs.

The NPCs will be from two factions: Kurohana Corp and Atlas Corp, and both will target players on sight.

As is the case with any extraction shooter, players need to loot before getting to the extraction point. In COD Mobile’s DMZ Recon mode, players will receive missions and contracts.

Missions will give players objectives to complete in a match. Contracts, on the other hand, reveal the locations for cash and loot in the game.

Once players have secured enough loot, they need to make it to an Exfil Point, which is what the new mode is calling an extraction point.

To make the mode even more rewarding, Call of Duty: Mobile has made progression easier. Players don’t need to make it to the Exfil Point in each game to earn rewards. Missions can be completed nonetheless, and Class XP can be earned.

The release date for the DMZ Recon mode in Call of Duty: Mobile is set to be December 11th. Activision has said that more details about the mode will be coming soon.

DMZ Recon Mode and Esports

COD Mobile esports has revolved around the multiplayer mode exclusively since its launch. As a result, it’s unlikely that Activision will change this with the release of the DMZ mode.

However, the Battle Royale mode has hosted infrequent tournaments such as the recent COD Mobile Mythic Mayhem, where community members teamed up with a creator to fight it out for $50,000 (~£38,000).

Similarly, iFerg also hosted a $25,000 (~£19,100) Wildcard World Cup for the Battle Royale mode. Activision could bring similar tournaments for the new extraction mode in Call of Duty: Mobile, too, but nothing is confirmed.
