Fouma was previously part of FC Lorient’s line-up, having played a crucial role in the club’s victories from 2021 to 2025.
S8UL Esports, on the other hand, is a new entrant to EAFC esports, having entered the game ahead of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The Mumbai-based organisation was one of the partnered teams in the Esports World Cup Partner Programme, which received incentives for entering new titles.
Following the EWC, S8UL has continued to invest in EAFC esports, signing Fouma on October 1st, 2025. E.J Wilson, the Head of Partnerships for S8UL Esports, shared that this was the org’s first partnership with a football club for esports.
What is the eLigue1?
The eLigue1 is organised by the Ligue de Football Professionnel, the French governing body that runs the major football leagues in the country, such as Ligue 1.
The official schedule for the eLigue1 2026 hasn’t been announced yet; however, based on previous years, it will likely kick off in early to mid-January 2026 and run until late April.
In the past, the winner of the tournament has earned a direct berth to the FC Pro 24 World Championship, while the top two players have qualified for the eChampions League.
In the eLigue1 2025, a total of 11 clubs participated for a share of the €60,000 (~£52,892) prize pool. The tournament began with a single-round-robin group stage leading to a single-elimination playoffs, which the top six qualified for.
Other notable clubs in the league include PSG, LOSC Esports, and FC Nantes.
