Unveiled on November 25th, 2025, the vast majority of the maps selected haven’t featured in previous Call of Duty esports seasons. Raid from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the only battleground making a return.
The majority of maps selected feature a three-lane design with chokepoints in the centre, encouraging a range of playstyles.
In addition to the map pool, the franchise league has also revealed the full list of competitive settings designed to optimise the title. Notably, the VS Recon sniper rifle is one of several weapons available for players to use.
Sniper rifles have featured sporadically in recent seasons, with the weapon category often deemed overpowered in long-distance engagements.
For 2026, Overload makes its competitive debut as the CDL’s third game mode. Teams compete for control of a single objective and score by moving it to a specified goal. The team with the most points when the timer runs out is the winner.
Black Ops 7 Season 1 Details
On December 4th, the day before the Black Ops 7 season begins, the Season 1 update for Black Ops 7 goes live with a wealth of new content.
The trio of Standoff, Meltdown, and Fringe return to the franchise. With all three used for esports in previous seasons, there’s a chance the Call of Duty League expands its map pool further.
The initial selection of maps has been met with approval from the community. “Lots of new maps in the pool, gonna be a lit start to the season,” commented one fan.
