Having given The MongolZ a run for its money in its opening Group A match, HEROIC looked to keep its Chengdu campaign alive with victory over a Team Spirit side that has struggled to rekindle its early-season form.

HEROIC struck first on Overpass with a 13-11 scoreline, putting the Norwegian organisation on the verge of advancing to the lower bracket final. The defence proved pivotal on Dust II, with HEROIC managing to force overtime.

Despite its best efforts, Team Spirit managed to hold strong, taking the map 16-13 to take the series to a deciding Ancient. HEROIC’s attack ran out of steam, with Spirit opening the first half with a 9-3 lead. With the momentum in its favour, Spirit rounded off the map 13-6 to advance to the lower bracket finals, where The MongolZ would await.

The upper bracket saw Team Falcons take on Astralis to determine which team would begin the Playoffs in the quarter finals. Falcons swept aside the Danes with a 2-0 scoreline, booking its place in the semis.

The MongolZ Halts Team Spirit

Heading into IEM Chengdu 2025 with Unudelger ‘controlez‘ Baasanjargal on the starting lineup, The MongolZ had to overcome Team Spirit in the lower bracket final of Group A to earn a playoff place.

The MongolZ kicked off proceedings with a 13-7 win on Dust II thanks to an exceptional performance from Usukhbayar ‘910’ Banzragch. Team Spirit answered back on Ancient after forcing a double overtime to take the series to Mirage.

910 continued to excel alongside Sodbayar ‘Techno4K’ Munkhbold with some well-timed offence resulting in an 8-4 lead at halftime. Team Spirit was unable to respond in the second half, with The MongolZ securing a 13-6 win and a 2-1 series victory, taking the final Playoff place.
