Paper Rex will join G2 Esports, Sentinels, and Fnatic from other International Leagues, leaving 12 spots yet to be filled from all regions combined.
“It feels good. I think it’s been a while since we qualified for Champions convincingly, I would say,” said Khalish ‘d4v41’ Rusyaidee.
The team’s Head Coach, Alexandre ‘alecks’ Sallé, added: “I think the most important thing is we have more time to work on visas and work on our game.”
Paper Rex is currently having one of its best seasons since entering the scene in 2021. Earlier this year, the roster lifted its first-ever international trophy at Masters Toronto.
The team has also advanced to the VCT Pacific Stage 2 upper final, which will take place on August 17th against TALON.
Paper Rex has only lost a single series so far in the tournament and is one of the top contenders for the winner’s title.
VCT Pacific’s VALORANT Champions Qualification Battle Heats Up
At the time of writing this article, Paper Rex has a massive lead on the leaderboard with 19 points, followed by T1 with 13 points.
DRX and Gen.G are right behind T1 with 12 points each, making it hard to predict which squad will make its way to Champions through Championship Points.
In addition to this, if TALON wins its next match against PRX, it will advance to Champions Paris by clinching a spot in the Stage 2 Grand Final.
Even if the team loses, it will have another shot at a top-two finish through the lower bracket in the playoffs.
All the VCT Pacific Stage 2 action is being streamed live on VCT Pacific’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
